Our online money transfer services allow you to send money using a Visa® or MasterCard® credit1 or debit card. You can choose to send money directly to your receiver's qualifying bank account or to a participating Agent location for pick up.

The Money in Minutes option allows you to send money quickly. It is our fastest service, and generally the money is available for pick up in a few minutes2.

      3. How much money can I send online?

The amount you can send varies by country, and in some cases you may need to provide additional information or documentation.

      4. What type of credit or debit cards can I use to send money online?

We accept Visa or MasterCard credit or debit cards online. If you use your credit card, you may be charged an additional cash advance fee by your card issuer for this service.

      5. What is the difference between debit and credit cards?

Credit cards have a line of credit that allows you to make purchases now and pay for them later. Your credit card issuer typically charges an interest rate on your outstanding balance, and may charge a “cash advance” fee for sending money. The amount you can send may be subject to the cash advance limits on your credit card. Contact your issuing bank for any questions related to cash advance fees.

Debit cards automatically deduct the amount of a purchase from your bank account. Typically, you are not charged interest or a cash advance fee.

      6. Does Western Union participate in the Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programs?

We participate in these programs to help prevent unauthorized use of cards online. You may receive a message from your card issuers after you submit your transaction.

      7. What is Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode?

The Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode programs were developed to help prevent unauthorized use of cards online. These services use personal passwords or identity information to help protect cards against unauthorized use. They are available for most cards from participating financial institutions.

Once your card is activated, your card number will be recognized whenever it's used at participating online stores. A window will automatically appear and your card issuer will ask for your password. You'll enter your password to verify your identity and complete your purchase.

If you haven't activated Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode, your card can still be used on our site.

      8. Will I be charged a cash advance fee if I use this service?

You may be charged an additional cash advance fee by your card issuer for this service. You may be able to avoid these fees if you use your debit card. Contact your card issuer for details.

      9. How do I know if my transaction was approved?

You will get a receipt online, confirming or declining your transaction. If we need additional information to approve your transaction, we will ask you to call customer service at
1-877-989-3268. Once your payment is approved, your transaction will be sent. A final receipt with your Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) confirming the transaction will be emailed to you.

If you do not get a receipt, please call 1-877-989-3268.
